Kindig-It Design, Inc v. Creative Controls, Inc., Case No. 2:14-cv-00867-JNP-BCW

kindig-it design lawsuit

While claim seven is for unfair competition under the Utah's Unfair Competition Act, it is still patent-related because, as argued in Kindig's reply, the alleged “material diminution in value of intellection property” is based on the patent claims. To determine whether the court has personal jurisdiction over Creative Controls, the court must first determine whether to apply Tenth Circuit or Federal Circuit law. Accordingly, the inquiry is whether Federal Circuit law or Tenth Circuit law governs the due process analysis. As the dispute escalated, both parties resorted to legal action.

Thus, even assuming that the website constitutes an offer to sell under Federal Circuit law, there is no evidence that Creative Controls has ever made an offer to sell an allegedly infringing product to a Utah resident via its website. Without such evidence, the court cannot find that Creative Controls' website creates sufficient minimum contacts with Utah to constitute purposeful availment of the Utah forum. Accordingly, the court lacks specific personal jurisdiction over Creative Controls on all patent-related claims. Specific personal jurisdiction exists only when the plaintiff's claims arise out of the defendant's contacts with the forum. Thus, the court must consider each of Kindig's claims separately to determine whether they arise from any of Creative Controls' contacts with Utah.

Q: Has Kindig It Design implemented any changes in response to the lawsuit?

There is some ambiguity as to whether the second scheduling order, which established specific deadlines related to the patent claims against Speedway Motors, applies to the claims against Creative Controls, which did not include any patent claims. But even if the amended scheduling order controls, Kindig-It filed its motion to compel well after the deadline. Written discovery had to be served by February 7, 2017 and fact discovery was closed on March 9, 2017. The filing of a motion to compel a month after the close of discovery was undoubtedly untimely. Kindig's Complaint does provide a description of the copyrighted work in paragraphs 16 through 25. The description includes the copyright registration information as well as the date of first publication.

Shared Fault Car Accidents: Understanding Your Rights

Rather, the defendant must have purposefully targeted its activities toward a particular forum, such that it should “reasonably anticipate being haled into court there.” World – Wide Volkswagen Corp. v. Woodson , 444 U.S. 286, 297, 100 S.Ct. In that sense, the availability of a website in any forum is similar to “stream of commerce cases” where the defendant distributes products into the national stream of commerce. As the Supreme Court explained, “[t]he placement of a product into the stream of commerce, without more, is not an act of the defendant purposefully directed toward the forum State. Additional conduct of the defendant may indicate an intent or purpose to serve the market in the forum State ....” Asahi Metal Indus. This is the only contact that Creative Controls allegedly has with Utah that is related to the patent claims.

Q: Were there any attempts to settle the lawsuit outside of court?

On April 10, 2017, Kindig-It filed the present motion to compel, arguing that the responses provided by Creative Controls were inadequate. In conclusion, the Kindig It lawsuit shed light on the complexities and challenges faced by businesses in the automotive customization industry. It emphasized the significance of maintaining transparency, setting realistic expectations, and fostering open communication between service providers and clients. While the legal battle might have caused temporary setbacks, Kindig-It Design emerged stronger, armed with the lessons learned from the dispute. This allegation is in stark contrast to the Zippo -based arguments Kindig previously advanced. Namely, this is an allegation that there was an actual, not merely a possible, contact with the forum.

It has not, however, met its burden for the patent claims. And Kindig has only sufficiently stated a claim under Rule 12(b)(6) for some, but not all, of its claims. Accordingly, the court GRANTS IN PART AND DENIES IN PART Creative Controls' motion to dismiss.

746, 755, 187 L.Ed.2d 624 (2014) (quoting Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations, S.A. v. Brown , 564 U.S. 915, 131 S.Ct. 2846, 180 L.Ed.2d 796 (2011) ). In this case, the parties agree that Creative Controls' limited contacts with Utah are insufficient to give rise to general personal jurisdiction. Accordingly, the court's analysis is confined to specific personal jurisdiction. Kindig has met its burden of showing that Creative Controls has sufficient contacts with Utah to allow the court to exercise personal jurisdiction over it on the non-patent claims.

Kindig It Lawsuit: A Closer Look at the Legal Battle

Accordingly, venue is proper for the Copyright-Related Claims under 28 U.S.C. § 1391(a), (c)(2) (2012). Additionally, the court is unpersuaded that the Copyright-Related Claims should be transferred to a Michigan court under 28 U.S.C. § 1404 (2012). For the same reasons as set forth in the previous section, the court finds that it is not unfair for Creative Controls to litigate the Copyright-Related Claims in Utah. The Tenth Circuit has explained that “[p]endent personal jurisdiction ... Exists when a court possesses personal jurisdiction over a defendant for one claim, lacks an independent basis for personal jurisdiction over the defendant for another claim ...

Updates on court proceedings.

Both claims are based on Kindig's allegations that Creative Controls copied the photographs of cars that Kindig customized and that Creative Controls “passed off” those images as depicting their own customization of cars. Creative Controls argues that Kindig has failed to sufficiently plead its copyright infringement claims (claims 3 and 4). First, it argues that the claims do not sufficiently identify the copyrighted materials that Creative Controls has allegedly infringed. Second, it argues that the claims do not sufficiently identify which of Creative Controls' works infringe upon the copyrights. Third, Creative Controls asserts that some of the copyrights may be invalid on their face.

Rather, it cites cases explaining that complaints must “give defendants fair notice of the claims against them and the grounds supporting the claims.” Cincinnati Life Ins. Co. v. Beyrer , 722 F.3d 939, 947 (7th Cir.2013) (quoting Stanard v. Nygren , 658 F.3d 792, 797 (7th Cir.2011) ). On the patent-related claims, Federal Circuit law governs the due process analysis for personal jurisdiction purposes. In contrast, on the non-patent-related claims, Tenth Circuit law controls. See Silent Drive, Inc. v. Strong Indus., Inc. , 326 F.3d 1194, 1201 (Fed.Cir.2003) (discussing when Federal Circuit law or regional circuit law applies to personal jurisdiction analysis). The following general principles, however, apply in both circuits.

Once entered, the scheduling order "may be modified only for good cause and with the judge's consent." FED. This good cause requirement "requires the movant to show the 'scheduling deadlines cannot be met despite [the movant's] diligent efforts.'" Gorsuch, Ltd., B.C. Bank Ass'n, 771 F.3d 1230, 1240 (10th Cir. 2014) (alteration in original) (citation omitted). They argued that the website the company set up was not specifically set to target customers from a specific area. Instead, Creative Controls catered to anyone with access to their website. They shouldn’t be penalised just because their site attracted business from Utah.

When a court has specific personal jurisdiction over only some of a plaintiff's claims, the doctrine of pendent personal jurisdiction may allow the court to exercise personal jurisdiction over the remaining claims. Pendent personal jurisdiction “exists when a court possesses personal jurisdiction over a defendant for one claim, lacks an independent basis for personal jurisdiction over the defendant for another claim ... And then, because it possesses personal jurisdiction over the first claim, asserts personal jurisdiction over the second claim.” United States v. Botefuhr , 309 F.3d 1263, 1272 (10th Cir.2002). But this doctrine is only applicable when the claims are sufficiently related. Accordingly, the final step in the jurisdictional analysis is to consider whether the court may exercise pendent personal jurisdiction over Creative Controls for any claim over which it lacks specific personal jurisdiction.

Learn How to Build Your Own Drone from Scratch A 2020 DIY Guide

drone design

He's lead scientist at droneMetrics, a remote sensing and analytics company, adjunct professor at Trent University, and editor-in-chief at the journal, Drone Systems and Applications. A battery’s voltage is something you must take into consideration when constructing your RC drone. Basically, the battery’s voltage should match with the motors you’ve chosen. When learning how to build a drone, keeping tabs of a battery's voltage is extremely important.

Motors

We can now see that the higher the pitch of a prop, the more substance (air) it will move. Pitch is a little less intuitive to understand than diameter. Qualitatively, the higher the pitch the more air will be pushed down. A prop with a pitch of 0 inches would be like spinning a butter knife. The last thing I’ll say here is most manufacturers will show you the specs of parts that should be used with the motor, which can prove helpful in selecting parts once you’ve chosen your motors. As number 2 shows, this guide will arm you with the knowledge to find your own parts instead of just soldering together electronics from a pre-assembled list of parts that comes in a drone kit.

Video

Our estimated flight time is 15.2 minutes (figure 11), which is a significant improvement compared to our original design, which had only about 4.5 minutes of flight time. A new system from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) is the first to allow users to design, simulate, and build their own custom drone. Users can change the size, shape, and structure of their drone based on the specific needs they have for payload, cost, flight time, battery usage, and other factors. In essence, the realm of drone design signifies an ever-evolving journey marked by relentless innovation and adaptation. As technological frontiers continue to expand, so does the potential for drones to reshape industries and redefine daily experiences. These flying marvels transcend being mere gadgets; they represent a transformative force poised to revolutionize diverse sectors, from entertainment and agriculture to logistics and beyond.

Step 7: First Person Video (FPV) Camera Bracket:

The lesson can be done in as little as 1 class period for older students. Conduct the testing and debrief in the next class period. Though far cheaper, deploying SAR on a drone poses a number of challenges. Multispectral cameras offer the ability to capture at various wavelengths, but a new generation of hyperspectral cameras is allowing capture of even more information from a single sensor. Additionally, he says that the increasing availability of electric motor test stands are enabling the development of far more precise motor controls.

Lithium Polymer Battery (Lipo battery)

Create a center circle which will become a hole to allow the motor’s drive shaft to spin freely. If you’ve made it through all of these tests then that’s it you’ve done it! You can now attach your propellers and head to an open area with no other people to check if it flies! One thing to note is that propellers come in clockwise and anticlockwise varieties. You should slide it up a little one at a time to check that the correct motor is spinning for each channel and that the motors are spinning in the correct direction.

Step 2: Creating the Motor Component Plate - Component Plate and Motor Booms:

You will often have a positive and negative wire to do this connecting to the Vbat and ground pads. Some manufactures such as Matek have even started giving users full wiring diagrams such as the one below. This shows you exactly what pads you are looking to solder making things much easier for you. Note that all the red and black power wires we have already soldered! The following diagram is for the boards that I am using, it is however a little unique as there is a ribbon cable connecting the PDB to the flight controller.

DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise

You will need to check what input your flight controller requires for this. Capacity – The capacity of a cell is rated in mAh which stands for milliamp hours. This means that a 1500mAh pack can give out 1.5A for an hours time, of course we want to pull far more than that so will get much shorter flight times. Increasing the pack size will give longer flight times however will add weight, there becomes a point where the drone can’t lift the extra weight of a battery. Batteries come in all shapes and sizes and it’s important to find the right ones for your build. Most frames or motors recommend a certain battery size in their suggested parts list.

drone design

"Massive swarm" drone strike on Saudi oil facility demonstrates destructive potential of autonomous weapons

A plane goes up if the forces of lift and thrust are stronger than gravity and drag. If gravity and drag are stronger than lift and thrust, the plane goes down. While drone-based sprayers traditionally used flat-fan nozzles, rotary atomizers are increasingly used. This type of nozzle can be tuned to provide even droplet sizes and coverage even amidst uneven flow rates. Providing that stability requires a concert of systems and sensors, including gyros, accelerometers, and IMUs, all helping to correct the data from the sensors. "Because there's nothing you can do to make a drone more stable," Chabot said, "especially when it starts getting windy and gusty."

HD Camera

The main consideration for choosing an ESC is that it can deliver the motor’s peak current. In our case we do not expect our motor to exceed 42 A, so an ESC like the HobbyKing 60A ESC 4A SBEC will work great. It can deliver a constant current up to 60 A and a burst current up to 80 A, while providing 4 A to the BEC. This gives us a bit of a safety margin, so this ESC will be a good choice for our drone.

Because they can move straight up and down they do not require a runway. Also helicopters can fly backwards and sideways, and hover in one spot without moving. Because of this flying flexibility, a helicopter can serve as a flying ambulance to quickly rescue people or animals from areas that are tough to reach in any other way. Helicopters are also often used to report on traffic and weather. They can lift many heavy objects and carry water or other materials to help with a remote fire. Some helicopters that carry extremely heavy loads have two large rotors instead of one large rotor and a small one.

I like to leave some slack as a crash can pull on some parts and damage them. Keeping some extra length on the wires gives me more options if I decide to go shorter. Remember it’s much easier to cut wires than it is to extend them. Your carbon fibre frame conducts electricity, it is important that you space the PDB away from it so that no components, pads or wires can come into contact with any carbon fibre. This is true for all of the electronics in your build. DVR – A DVR is a digital video recorder which takes your footage and saves it to a micro SD card for you to watch later.

Other options would be the cheaper FlySky i6, Spectrum models or if you are a hardcore gamer the Turnigy Evolution is more of a game controller style. I’ll tell you what almost every other website or drone forum will tell you in terms of remotes…. For the money you pay the Taranis really is an exceptional remote that can really do anything you can think of. Taranis wise your options would be either the QX7 or X9D and their deluxe plus or special addition variants.

Select the Circle and hit “X” on your keyboard to convert the line to a construction circle. Drag out and input 210 mm in the diameter dialog box. Be sure to review your design with any of the board members in the lab. Also, try to make your design as light as you can, taking into account the electrical components will be added later. Use the pdf below for further assistance in frame design.

You can then start cutting your wires to length and running any underneath the flight controller. Once you are satisfied you can mount the flight controller on your stack using nylon standoffs, when you do this make sure you have the USB port on one side for easy access later. Vbat – If your flight controller runs off of 5V it will still need to read the main battery voltage if you want to make use of features such as the OSD or beeper.

drone design

Luckily with software the direction of the drone can be set so I would recommend setting the board at the angle that works best for your setup. Buzzer – This works as a mean to find your lost drone in a crash or to warn you if the battery gets low. Flight controllers typically have a + and – buzzer pad to use here. – One of the most important steps is to set up your failsafe. This stops the drone from flying away incase it disconnects from the remote and could stop it from injuring you or others. These will vary between different transmitter/receiver combinations.

This is the main body of your build where you mount all your parts and get everything together. Frames are normally made from carbon fiber and are assembled with various mounting hardware such as standoffs or aluminum sections. They can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, we covered quadcopter frames in detailed guide.

Sylvester Stallone lists his stunning California home see inside

sylvester stallone house

Built in 2014, this incredible home offers an impressive 13,241 square feet of living space as well as 7 spacious bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Emmett was listed as the director of “Armored” in a May 31, 2023, application for a Mississippi cash rebate. When state officials later received production call sheets and crew lists for the project that began shooting in late September, Routt was identified as the director. Like many films in Hollywood, Emmett’s productions receive generous subsidies from states, including Mississippi and Ohio — funds that help Emmett attract talent, financiers and local crew members.

Exclusive: The Founder of Starz Lists His Manhattan Apartment for $10 Million

According to our review of public records, Stallone’s home is worth a whopping $9.89 million. That said, if you rely on the popular real estate sites “estimated value,” it clicks in at over $26 million. Sylvester Stallone house Los Angeles is in the affluent Beverly Park neighborhood.

SAG-AFTRA defends Alec Baldwin after ‘Rust’ criminal charge: ‘An actor’s job is not to be a firearms or weapons expert’

It’s hard to imagine any other situation where a move to such a decadent property would be considered downsizing. Stallone purchased a 3,600 square foot home in the Lake Sherwood area of California back in 2008 for $4.85 million. The 3-bedroom, 3-bath home was built in 1946 and featured a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains as well as two fireplaces, a balcony, guest house, boat house, and a caretaker’s cottage. The home also came with a private dock that sat on over 500 square feet of lake frontage. Spread out across 3.5 acres, the actor’s former 21,000-square-foot abode features eight bedrooms and nine full bathrooms, PEOPLE previously reported. Stallone and Flavin originally listed it for $110 million and later cut down the asking price to $85 million.

Martin Short Just Bought a Secluded L.A. Home

Made up of eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, the residence spans a massive 18,500 square feet. The Oscar-nominated actor oversaw plenty of changes during his stay, slowly transforming the once-Mediterranean-style compound into a more contemporary estate. He touched up the living spaces with steel-framed windows and doors, added an art studio in the eight-car garage and also tapped mega-mansion master Richard Landry to build a guesthouse. County’s most exclusive enclaves with star-studded residents including Denzel Washington, Magic Johnson, Justin Bieber and the late Sumner Redstone, whose house neighbors Stallone’s. It also enjoys the rarified air of being one of only a handful of homes offered at more than $100 million in Southern California.

The property is located in Beverly Park, a gated community in Los Angeles.

Palm trees surround the mansion, providing plenty of shade and seclusion. There is also plenty of green space between the main mansion and guesthouse on Stallone’s Palm Beach property. Besideingly, an open-air cabana directly overlooks the waterfront pool.

He was replaced, at least on the call sheet, by Justin Routt, a 63-year-old Miami film novice and convicted felon who did not direct any scene in the movie, according to eight members of the film’s production. He’s also become a reality star on “The Family Stallone,” with his wife, Jennifer Flavin, and daughters, Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet. During a 2021 interview with Vogue, the “30” artist shared that she is a big fan of the “Rocky” movies that Stallone wrote and starred in, which could explain her affinity for the statue.

To fit in with the neighborhood’s equestrian theme, there’s a four-stable barn and riding arena. Sylvester Stallone has been pushing out box office gold for over 51 years. The actor, writer and producer has officially cemented himself in Hollywood history with his film Rocky even being inducted into the National Film Registry and its props being placed in the Smithsonian Museum. Stallone also owned the adjacent property, which he sold along with the main house in 2011 for a huge loss – $4.2 million. Our best bet is he sold it to a developer, given what the Google Maps view looks like now.

Records for his home in New York are so slim, but Sylvester Stallone’s Childhood home in Maryland is much more visible! Records show that he lived in the Cape-Cod style home for about 10 years with his family before making his way to New York. In the 1990s, Sylvester Stallone owned a waterfront home on Miami’s Biscayne Bay, joining the likes, at the time, of pop superstar Madonna, singer Julio Iglesias, the Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb and Oprah Winfrey. Stallone sold the estate near Coconut Grove for a recorded $16.2 million in 1999.

Wayfair Way Day: Here's what we know about the year's best furniture and home decor sale

On the set of “Armored,” a film made during the actors’ strike last fall, star Sylvester Stallone arrived on set unaware that Emmett was the project’s director, according to four crew members who worked on the film. The film’s assistant director and another producer insisted that Stallone was not surprised by Emmett’s “presence” on set. Over the years, the family redid the home to have a more contemporary feel by adding handmade floor-to-ceiling steel windows. Outside, there’s a large pool that appears to be intact—Rocky statue and all—and a putting green, built-in spa, massive sun deck, and expansive lawns with some of the most incredible and far-reaching views in the area. There was also an eight-car, air-conditioned garage, several loggias and terraces, a movie screen in the family room, lovely entertaining spaces, and high ceilings that make the home feel exceptionally large. Meanwhile, Stallone moved into a $35 million Palm Beach estate last year, which spans more than 13,200 square feet with seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.

Sylvester Stallone told his daughters — Scarlet, Sistine and Sophia — about the decision to relocate “permanently” to Florida on a Feb. 21 episode of the television series. Stallone had been shopping it around for more than a year, first listing it in January 2021.

Which sounds like just the kind of outcome that a rival actor would be hopeful for. But still, until Schwarzenegger speaks up and admits that he talked Franco Columbu into setting up that bench-press challenge, we'll just have to keep assuming it was all accidental and circumstantial. So even if he wasn’t meaning to injure Stallone, the actor’s story doesn’t imply much help was offered, either.

The 15,401 square foot, 5-bedroom, 7-bath home is atop a mountain with epic views. Stallone and his wife, former model Jennifer Flavin Stallone, have owned a vacation home in Palm Beach since December 2020, when they bought their estate through a trust for a recorded $35.38 million. They have since remodeled the gated lakefront property , which has a main residence and two outbuildings, at 1480 N. Stallone measures in at 5’10”, which ironically, is a lot shorter than many would naturally assume for the actor with the bigger-than-life personality and classic rough and tough-guy charm. In June 2020, Stallone finally parted with his longtime La Quinta digs for a reduced price of $3.35 million. Often referred to as Sylvester Stallone house Indian Wells, Stallone also has a gorgeous custom villa he built in 2008 in the La Quinta/Palm Springs community of the California desert. We’re here to give you the 411 on all the nitty, gritty details of this film genius’  life.

Now on the one hand, this could have been a naturally occurring incident, with Columbu known to be someone who regularly challenged others to feats of strength and endurance. The Wide Shot brings you news, analysis and insights on everything from streaming wars to production — and what it all means for the future. The producer in charge of the production, according to Ohio tax records, is Justin Routt. ‘Armored’ have been paid and the production is in good standing,” his declaration said.

In May 2022, she posted a photo of herself and her rumored fiancé, Rich Paul, posing in front of their new digs. Stallone and his wife built the 21,000-square-foot home in the 1990s. It also has 1.5 acres of lakefront, ideal for running up and down to train for your next big fight. At a paltry $35.4 million price tag, it’s well, well below what Adele paid for his former West Coast home. Sly bought the land for his Beverly Hills property in 1994 and made quite a bit of money when he sold it for $58 million in 2022, according to Forbes.

A deep and apparently ancient gorge of oolitic limestone, overgrown with ferns, snakes through the garden—its most romantic feature—although Stallone explains that it was once Vizcaya's quarry. It's slung with bridges of wood and stone, the former vaguely Oriental, the latter Venetian. The modest 3-story residence features 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms as well as 2,525 square feet of living space. The main house and guesthouse combine for nearly 10,500 square feet, with four bedrooms, eight bathrooms and amenities such as a gym and movie theater. A vine-strewn loggia leads to the backyard, where winding steps descend to a private backyard with a swimming pool, spa and cabana. Adele has since made some renovations — and the previous owner approves.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal in June, Stallone said that Adele only agreed to buy the property if she could also keep Stallone's life-size statue of Rocky Balboa. Stallone bought the property for $4.5 million in January 2010, then listed it in 2015 for $4.1 million. Public records show that Stallone had accepted an offer in April 2016, then began taking backup offers, but the sale fell through and he took the property off the market in September 2016. The family were even given the go-ahead to build a security gate around the property, transforming it into a luxury compound right in the middle of an upscale Palm Beach neighborhood. Looking for a change of scenery, Stallone purchased this Caribbean style casa in Palm Beach, Florida for a whopping $35.38 million in December 2020.

Stallone purchased his newest piece of real estate for $35.38 million in Palm Beach, Florida.

The star and the cinematographer largely choreographed the scenes. In 2004, that project, a short film called “Clear Cut,” debuted at the Made in Miami festival. In his Herald interview, he described how he had managed to spend only $2,000 on the movie by securing free locations, getting discounted sound equipment from a local high school and using a yacht owned by one of the bar’s regulars. Crew members and vendors, including sheriff’s deputies who provided security, struggled for months to be paid what they said they were owed. Several vendors reported the payment issues to journalists and the Mississippi Film Office, part of a state agency that approved a $2.8-million cash rebate to the producers, state documents show. He has thrived for years by paying aging A-list stars — Bruce Willis, Stallone, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Mel Gibson — millions of dollars to be the face of his movies, often in exchange for just a day or two of work.

Drake wants $88 million for Beverly Crest mega-mansion he bought last year for $75 million

Sylvester Stallone's Beverly Park mansion has 20 — and it's on the market for a cool $85 million. "Sly" gives audiences a brief glimpse of the mansion, which was bought by Grammy award-winning singer Adele in 2022 for $58 million. The documentary reflects on Stallone's life as he packs up his mansion in Los Angeles before moving to Florida. "Rocky" star Sylvester Stallone is the focus of Netflix's new documentary, "Sly," which sees the 77-year-old star discuss his journey from a budding writer and actor to becoming one of the most famous Hollywood icons of the last few decades.

Mansion Interior

Stallone updated the home every few years during his ownership, adding a Richard Landry-designed guesthouse and touching up the living spaces with steel-framed windows and doors. Originally built as a Mediterranean, the house’s upgrades brought a more contemporary feel to many of the living spaces. The high-profile listing is exclusively held by Rick Hilton, Jeff Hyland and the husband-and-wife team Barron N. Hilton and Tessa Hilton of Hilton & Hyland. French doors allow for the rooms to be bathed in natural light, and offer seamless vistas throughout the house. Rocky fans will also be taken with the actor's spacious office, which displays statues, trophies, action figures and more memorabilia from both the Rocky and Rambo franchises.

The property also includes an 8-car garage and an art studio — Sly himself is a painter, and has a number of his own works hung up in his home in addition to pieces by other famous artists (including one painting by Kerry James Marshall). Located in North Beverly Park, one of L.A.'s most exclusive and star-studded neighborhoods, the Mediterranean-style home is set apart by its extensive city and canyon views, says Mills. "A lot of these homes in Beverly Park are big, beautiful homes but don't have a view," she explains.

Dylan claimed the crew member would not have been within 100 feet of the “safe and controlled” maneuver. Chamberlain, the cameraman, also said he was not warned about any danger before or after going into the foul-smelling river. But eight people who were on set insist that Routt never directed a single scene. Routt told the WLOX reporter that “Armored” would be released in about a year and “with me as director, it’ll do great,” he said, laughing. “Armored LLC” also landed a coveted waiver by the performers union SAG-AFTRA to shoot during the actors’ and writers’ strikes. Yet when Hollywood trade site Deadline touted the launch of Convergence last year, there was no mention of Emmett’s involvement.

Features include a two-story foyer, a motor court, a family room, office and formal living and dining room. It also comes with a two-story, two-bedroom guest house with a fully-equipped kitchen. His Beverly Park mansion covers 21,000 square feet with eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms on what Hilton considers the best view lot in the 61-home neighborhood. The lavish compound also features a two-story guesthouse designed by Richard Landry, who has worked with stars like Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady on their former L.A. It includes 2 en-suite bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining area. The sprawling property, which was previously listed with Hilton & Hyland for $110 million, is situated on 3.5 acres of land, and boasts magnificent views of the surrounding hills set against the glittering backdrop of Los Angeles.

sylvester stallone house

Situated on 3.5 acres of land, the Italian Riviera-style residence is situated in the exclusive guard-gated enclave of North Beverly Park. Adele is reportedly shelling out $58 million for Sylvester Stallone’s custom-built Beverly Hills home, and though that’s an eye-popping price, the “Rocky” star listed it last January for a whopping $110 million. In addition to their fancy new Hidden Hills spread, Fogerty and his longtime wife Julie still own an even larger estate out in the Hidden Valley community near Thousand Oaks. That 20-acre compound was up for grabs at $20 million earlier this year, though it’s since been removed from the market.

He listed it in the later 90s for $27.5 million, only to let it go in 1999 for $16.2 million. It also includes a two-story living room as well as a formal dining room, a chef’s kitchen with a beautiful, granite-topped island, a wine room as well as an outdoor kitchen. North Beverly Park is considered the “most prestigious” section in the Los Angeles area for high-end residential real estate. The “paparazzi-proof” neighborhood features two guarded checkpoints and is home to heavy hitters such as Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, Barry Bonds, Eddie Murphy and a slew of billionaire businessmen. The Stallones’ Carribean-style estate in Palm Beach encompasses 1½-acres with otudoor loggias, a swimming pool, a whirlpool spa and a sandy beach, all facing 254 feet of frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway. The wire transfers they received came not from “Armored,” but from a subsequent Convergence production called “Alarum,” a $19-million spy thriller starring Stallone and Scott Eastwood, that wrapped last month in Ohio.

While some performers in Hollywood have stage names, it’s exceedingly rare for a director to use an alternate identity in film credits and production documents. The Directors Guild of America has rules governing directors’ creative rights and responsibilities, but Emmett isn’t subject to them because he’s not a DGA member. “Armored” and Emmett’s “Cash Out” films were not DGA-covered productions, the union said. A $58 million tear-down might seem over-the-top but in tinseltown, anything is possible. TMZ recently reported that Adele is gutting the entire home for a full renovation, even removing the entire second story. The neighborhood’s past and current residents include Denzel Washington, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and Mark Wahlberg, to name a few.

The atrium next door has the atmosphere of a castle keep or maybe a giant's den, with a stained-glass skylight and a frescoed gallery. On the chunky stone walls are canvases by Bouguereau and Francis Bacon. The couple curl up here on their overscale velvet-covered sofas to watch television, which is housed in a massive baroque mantelpiece from an Italian palace.

A Midwestern boy at heart, he was raised in St. Louis and studied journalism at the University of Missouri. Before joining The Times as an intern in 2017, he wrote for the Columbia Missourian and Politico Europe. He received two Oscar nominations for the 1976 hit “Rocky” and another one for his role in the 2015 spin-off “Creed.” His other credits include “First Blood,” “Cobra” and the “Expendables” franchise. Meg James is a senior entertainment industry writer for the Los Angeles Times. She was the lead reporter for The Times’ coverage of the deadly “Rust” shooting on a New Mexico film set in 2021, work recognized by the Pulitzer Prize board as a finalist in breaking news. A member of the Company Town team for two decades, James specializes in covering television, corporate media and investigative projects.

"I pick up the phone one day, and this voice says, 'Jade, this is Jennifer Stallone,'" Mills tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I was absolutely thrilled to hear from her," she says, adding she's long admired the mother-of-three and Serious Skincare founder. "She's a very, very successful woman with her skincare products. She's also an interior designer. So I was just really in awe of her. Both of them are really larger-than-life people." The actor purchased the neo-classical villa which overlooked the Biscayne Bay in June 1993 for $8 million and lived there with his wife and their first daughter Sophia Rose.

Stallone is best known for creating the Rocky franchise, which kicked off with a film co-written by and starring himself in 1976. There have been five additional Rocky spin-off movies between 1979 and 2006. He also reprised the role of Rocky Balboa in 2018’s Creed II, which he co-wrote as well.

Pasadena Showcase House of Design 2024: Step Inside the English Tudor Revival Manse

This city-owned, four-theater complex is housed in a former bank close to Skid Row in Downtown, and can be one of the city's most exciting venues. Karen Hasashya the CEO of Timeless Arts, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the transformative impact of collaboration in the creative industry. She also spoke to giving back and how instrumental the proceeds from the play will go into be supporting the cause of special intellectual disabilities. In fact, Rankin sees some key links between Alys and Sally—namely, their prophetic tendencies.

Kirk Douglas Theatre

Theatre and performance is a cathartic escape for everyone, but Black Americans were not always included fairly in that vision. Since the early 19th century, Black people were impersonated by white performers on stage through racist stereotypes in vaudeville and minstrel shows, creating offensive caricatures of Black people using blackface for the enjoyment of white audiences. For those in search of a more interactive moviegoing experience, the theater also hots special screenings at which costumes and “rowdy” behavior are encouraged. Texas-based movie theater chain Alamo Drafthouse opened a long-awaited Downtown LA outpost earlier this year. Already the venue is one of the very best places to do dinner and a movie at the same time. From the theater’s comfortable seats, you can place food and drink orders that waiters will unobtrusively bring to you during the film.

Fiorello La Guardia, who would later become New York City’s Mayor, campaigned against burlesque and the Hurtig and Seamon’s New Burlesque Theater would later shut down as a result. The theatre was later reopened as the 125th Street Apollo Theatre by Sidney Cohen and Morris Sussman in 1934. The pair rebranded the venue to focus on variety shows and wanted to reach the growing Black community in Harlem. With our state of the art digital sound system and projection, our equipment is second to none in Long Beach. You'll find frequent guest speakers and rotating displays of costumes and movie memorabilia at this Westside destination, where movies often play weeks prior to their national release dates.

An office space in the Gatehouse is now a soothing spa-inspired lounge designed by Margaret Lalikian. The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian. “For the wall mural, I had to pick something to bring them into nature and a calming environment,” Lalikian says.

The company offers a mix of new work and local premieres, frequently with big-name (though sometimes second-tier) Hollywood talent. Special nights include Wine Down Sundays, Lounge Fridays and Talk Back Tuesdays, where a special drinks or coffee reception is held before the performance. For a bedroom off the nursery, Carmine Sabatella wanted to create a jewel-toned escape. “I thought, if somebody’s taking care of the baby, they have a space where they can come and feel like it’s a retreat,” Sabatella says. The designer outfitted a door handcrafted in India with a vintage mirror to create a one of a kind headboard and bathed the space in deep emerald green.

If you’re looking for a truly swanky experience, look no further than Foreign Cinema. The venue screens stellar independent films while operating as a gourmet restaurant. Arrive early and dine on oysters, charcuterie boards, and rare ahi tuna before washing your meal down with a glass of champagne and heading inside the theater. With two large auditoriums screening the latest and greatest independent films, Opera Plaza Cinema is a no-brainer for your next arthouse binge. Additionally, the theater is within close distance to San Francisco’s Civic Center, Davies Symphony Hall, and City Hall if you’re in the mood for a bit of sightseeing before the show.

With the rise of Black Nationalism in the 1970s, the theatre decided to focus its storytelling around the Black experience in America. Operated by American Cinematheque, which also manages the Egyptian, the Aero plays a similar mix of restored classics. The theater was developed by the Douglas Aircraft Company as part of a larger commercial development built to serve employees of the company’s Santa Monica factory.

The theater underwent a massive renovation in 1998 and today hosts screenings of classic films and talks by prominent filmmakers and actors. Today, the theatre still plays host to regular red carpet premieres, while drawing countless tourists to its famous forecourt featuring the handprints and footprints of Hollywood icons. Visitors who choose to stay for a showing might be surprised to discover the Chinese still offers a viewing experience that's hard to beat. Renovated in 2013 by new owner TCL, the main screening room now boasts a massive 94-by-46-foot screen and stadium seating, along with all the decorative flourish for which Grauman was known.

Maria Videla-Juniel, who designed the primary bathroom of the main house, also devised a welcoming entry to the Gate House. A Thibault wall covering graces the entry, and a Fibreworks runner leads guests up the stairs. The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones. Nods to Pasadena’s famous peacocks can be found throughout the designs, and many creators fearlessly brought in statement floors, enveloped their spaces with jewel tones, and added texture to ceilings. Others focused on bringing the beauty of the estate’s gardens and views inside with verdant murals, floral fabrics, and nature-inspired lighting.

Bursts of hot pink and apple green energize Steven Cordrey’s design for the home’s veranda. Hand-beaded light fixtures illuminate the seating areas, which feature tables and chairs from Janus et Cie’s Amalfi Coast outdoor collection. Below, tour the inspiring rooms and outdoor spaces of the 2024 Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Since its opening, LHT has produced over 135 plays and musicals from the classics to experimental works. Continuing on Hansberry’s values for inclusivity, LHT prioritizes the work of Black and femme-identifying playwrights. Karamu in Swahili means “a place for joyful meeting,” a name that has been effortlessly embodied in the work of the theatre.

The El Capitan often gets overshadowed by the Chinese Theatre across the street, but this little venue is impressive in its own right. Also opened by Sid Grauman, the theater was designed by Morgan, Walls, and Clements—the firm behind several other LA landmarks, including the Wiltern. It originally served as a live theater venue, but deserves a place on any list of historic movie theaters as the place where Citizen Kane made its world premiere in 1941. This 1930's warehouse-turned-theater (complete with an exposed beam ceiling, swoon) hosts performances of all kinds, including music, theater, dance and film. Indie rock bands and local talent are often on tap here, and it's one of the best small music venues on the Eastside.

Perhaps Rankin feels Sally Bowles is a prophet because she is a woman who feels just as present in 1930 Weimar Germany as she does in 2024 New York City. "I feel honored to be working on a piece of art that is the conversation with the world," she says. For her own Sally, she drew from inspirations she's keeping private, but also a few she shares—including Sinead O'Connor, silent movie star Anita Berber, Dolores O'Riordan, Joan of Arc, Marlene Dumas paintings, and Louise Brooks, among others. Samatha Williams’s Tearoom in the Gatehouse is brimming with vintage charm and elegant accents. Working with Jacqueline Black and Michelle Porreca, Williams brought in a Chinoiserie wall covering to give the space a garden-like atmosphere.

For a more vintage feel, check out the Vineland Drive-in in City of Industry, which has been operating for more than six decades. The theater was bought and refurbished by Disney subsidiary Buena Vista Pictures Distribution in the 1990s. Its family-friendly screenings frequently include appearances by costumed characters. Two of Dallas’ leading avant-garde theater companies, located a few blocks from each other east of downtown, are opening productions of dramas created millennia apart. Maria Videla-Juniel turned the primary bath into a sumptuous retreat with hues of soft blue and brown. Thibaut wall coverings and fabrics were used for the walls and windows, and the elegant shagreen-covered vanities are accented with gleaming fixtures by P.E.

While it recently concluded its remarkable run on Broadway after 35 years, the play continues to enthrall audiences worldwide. Notably, this production will feature an all-black cast, marking a significant milestone in its African debut. Ross, according to Rankin, tried to write to Isherwood numerous times after he published his novella Sally Bowles (which was later republished in the novel Goodbye to Berlin and his Berlin Stories anthology). Founders Stanley E. Williams and Quentin Easter opened the theatre as a way to create opportunities for Black creatives and performers. Despite great achievements, San Francisco’s longest-running Black theatre company experienced its share of hardships. Over two decades after opening, the theatre battled economic declines and the disappearance of ethnic-specific spaces in the region. The founders successfully combated those trends by collaborating with other companies and attracting iconic Black artists to share their work with the theatre. In the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, neighborhood settlement Karamu House has stood since 1915 as a symbol of community and artistic innovation. Founded as the Neighborhood Association, but most commonly known as the Playhouse Settlement, the space was created by two white social workers, Rowen and Russell Jelliffe, who sought out to produce plays with interracial casts for the community.

The theatre was named a City of Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in March 2003. A relic of American culture at its most auto-centric, the drive-in concept is weather-dependent, relies on an inefficient sound system, and only works at night.
